Oil prices rose in New York last week following the positive data in jobless claims and recovery in home sales figures. WTI Crude prices surged 5 days in a row and closed at 99.75 for the weekend. This week, we expect the market to tone down amid year-end holiday seasons and trend to be minimized significantly. The market might probably be range bound between 97.00 – 100.00 regions while trading in light volume.

Gold prices traded in sideways from 1583.00 – 1642.00 regions last week. Moving towards the year-end, we expect the trend to be continually dormant and possible range from 1590.00 – 1620.00. By technical outlook, the Gold trend is still in large pattern of consolidation from 1500.00 – 1900.00 levels and we reckon this uncertainty will be prone bias to weakness in January.

Silver prices threaded in small range from 28.60 – 30.20 during last week in quiet market. This week, we expect the trend to be similar but slightly bearish on the technical patterns. The liquidating forces may test 28.00 supports but topside resistances are still capped at 29.50 – 30.00 regions. No significant trend has been detected so far but market may continue to slide in early January!

ราคาทองคำยังคงไร้ทิศทางซื้อขายในกรอบ 1583-1642 ในสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมา ในสัปดาห์นี้มีราคาซื้อขายในกรอบแคบๆที่ 1590-1620 กรอบทางเทคนิคยังคงให้น้ำหนักทิศทางทองคำอยู่ในช่วงปรับฐานใหญ่จาก 1500-1900 การแกว่งของราคาที่อ่อนตัวลงจะยังคงต่อเนื่องถึงเดือนมกราคมหน้า

ราคา silver ซื้อขายในกรอบค่อนข้างแคบที่ 28.60-30.20 ในสัปดาห์ที่แล้วตลาดค่อนข้างเงียบ ในสัปดาห์นี้แนวโน้มยังคงเช่นเดิมโดยรูปแบบราคาทางเทคนิคค่อนข้างอยู่ในทิศทางขาลง โดยมีราคาแนวรับที่อาจลงไปทดสอบที่ 28 แนวต้านยังคงอยู่ที่ระดับ 29.50-30.00 ยังไม่มีทิศทางแนวโน้มที่ชัดเจนประเมินว่าราคาจะค่อยๆไหลลงในช่วงต้นเดือนมกราคม

WTI Crude prices attempted briefly above 100.00 benchmarks and slid after the news from OPEC’s decision and soaring dollar value. The market traded from last week’s high 101.26 down to 92.53 in bearish sentiment while closing near to the low for weekend. This week, we expect the trend to consolidate from 92.50 – 96.00 and slow down gradually towards holiday seasons. Traders are advised to trade cautiously and beware of thin market after coming mid week.

Gold prices tripped badly and reached the support bottom at 1559.90 regions last week. This week, we reckon the market will move into technical consolidation from 1550.00 – 1620.00 regions as trend begins to digest. However, beware if the bears drive the market lower to 1520.00 regions once the aforementioned support is violated!

SET Index traded in softer trend last week from 1051 – 1006. Thai baht weakened following the outflow of investment from Asia assets and demands sapped by euro debt crisis. This week, we reckon the market will continue to trade inside 1000 – 1050 with little expectation. Beware of breaking down below 1000 benchmarks that may test next support at 980 levels.

WTI Crude prices traded downward from last week’s high 102.50 to 97.30 but pulled up on Friday due to strong U.S. consumer sentiments. However, we are skeptical if the trend could challenge above 100.00 benchmarks again unless some new disasters arise in Iran conflict with the West. We reckon the market will consolidate from 97.10 – 100.00 until mid-week with possibility of breaking lower to 95.00 supports or beyond. Abandon your short-view if the market re-settles above 100.00 benchmarks!

Gold prices consolidated from 1701.00 – 1756.00 during last week with no breakthrough of trend direction. Technically speaking, the trend outlook favors bearishness and may decline beyond 1700.00 this week. This week, we expect the bears to reach S1 - 1665.00 as our first target while keeping in view of the lower target at S2 – 1725.00 regions. Only reversal to attempt 1750.00 levels might effectively ignite a new bullish engine.

SET Index climbed slightly higher last week following the stronger sentiments in U.S. equity markets. However, the market is well capped beneath 1050 benchmarks as we predicted. The bulls created a run-up gap from 997.50 and closed at 1034 for the weekend. We reckon the trend will trade inside 100 – 1050 this week unless being led by fundamental news to break beyond!

WTI Crude oil closed above 100.00 benchmarks for the weekend while the bullish strength might be facing exhaustion after having run up for several days. From our technical studies, the bulls may meet strong resistance challenge at above 102.00 levels in coming week. There is high possibility for the trend to return to 97.30 regions as our first support. Abandon your short-view if the market penetrates and settles above 103.40 levels!

Gold prices pulled up to 1762.90 as last week’s high after U.S. non-farm payroll data release. This week, we reckon good selling opportunity to emerge during early week above 1750.00 benchmarks while the trend will potentially revert to bearishness. Downside target may be aimed anywhere from 1700.00 – 1720.00 for weekly range as technical digestion may likely occur to counter previous uptrend. Abandon your short-view if the trend penetrates above 1763.00 levels!

SET Index jumped last week after following the easing of monetary policy by regional central banks. The market closed at 10529 for weekend and may face much profit-taking on Monday. From our technical studies, the trend may settle around 1000 benchmarks while doing its consolidation. Alternatively, it may need some more positive fundamental news to drive the market to 1050 regions if the bulls are to stay strong!
